Lightning Wallets
Recommended Lightning wallets for LN Markets
To deposit, withdraw, or sign in via LNURL-auth, you need a Lightning wallet. Any LNURL-compatible wallet works — below are the ones we test against.
| Wallet | Platform | Custody | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phoenix | iOS, Android | Self-custody | Best UX for self-custody, auto-managed liquidity. |
| Breez | iOS, Android | Self-custody | Self-custody with built-in LSP. |
| Wallet of Satoshi | iOS, Android | Custodial | Simplest onboarding, no channel management. |
| Zeus | iOS, Android, Desktop | Self-custody | Connects to your own node (LND, Core Lightning, Eclair). |
| Alby | Browser | Both | Browser extension, supports LNURL-auth out of the box. |
What to look for
- LNURL-auth support — required to sign in or link a wallet to your LN Markets account.
- LNURL-pay / LNURL-withdraw support — required for one-tap deposits and withdrawals.
- BOLT11 invoices — every wallet listed supports these; needed for invoice-based deposits and withdrawals.
Custodial vs self-custody
| Type | Trade-off |
|---|---|
| Custodial | Easiest setup. The wallet provider controls your keys and routing. |
| Self-custody | You hold the keys. Requires channel liquidity, but no third party can freeze it. |
For active trading you can use either. If you withdraw large amounts and hold them long-term, use a self-custody wallet.
